Ms Wilson is the National Duathlon Silver Medallist! 11 March 2018

Manor House PE Teacher, Ms Wilson,  was placed 2nd in the National Duathlon Championships in Letterkenny last weekend. The event demands speed, pace and endurance over a 10km run, 40km bike and a 5k run to finish. Ms  Wilson ran a personal best in the 10km section of the race (37.20) on her way to claiming a National Silver medal. This is a fantastic achievement and we wish her the very best with the rest of her season! Thanks to Ms Fagan for sending us this short report. Read the FULL OFFICIAL RACE REPORT here.

Sports Updates: 5 February 2018

It has been a hectic start to 2018 for students who are involved in sports in Manor House. Ms Wilson sent us the following report.

BADMINTON

Our 1st year badminton team of Aisling Brassil, Carys Daly, Tara Fox, Ava Peake and Aoife Savage have been very busy over the past week. Matches consist of 6 games - 4 single matches and 2 doubles matches.

  • On 29 January, they played Mayfield at home and played extremely well in all of their 6 games.
  • This was followed up with a win against Holy Faith Clontarf, where again the girls won all 6 games.
  • The girls continued their winning streak against Santa Sabina, again winning all 6 games!
  • In their final game of the week the girls played a tough match against St Joseph of Cluny Killiney. Manor House played brilliantly to win this match.

So, the girls are unbeaten so far in all of their matches and will now progress to the knockout stages. We make special mention of their coaches, Janice Peake and Deirdre Fox, and thank them for all their hard work with the girls.

BASKETBALL

  • It was another busy week for our basketball teams. Our U16 team played Santa Sabina in their semi-final. The girls played superbly to win on a scoreline of 58-24 and will now progress to the final. Well done girls!
  • Our 2nd year team also secured victory in their match against St Raphaelas on a scoreline of 22-18.
  • Our 1st year team played very well and were unlucky to lose their opening match to St Dominics Cabra.

CROSS COUNTRY

  • Four 1st year students took part in the North Leinster Schools Cross Country on Friday 26 January in the Phoenix Park. The girls competed very well in a field of over 100 runners. Cards Daly (26th), Caroline Kavanagh (27th), Emer Sheridan (33rd) and Ciara Walsh (60th). Together, their team finished 6th out of 15. Good effort,  girls!
