Name
The name of the Association shall be "Manor House Home
School Association"
Objects
The objects of the Association shall be
- to
deepen the influence of the Christian message in the lives of
the parents, teachers and children.
- to
co-operate in promoting the educational and general welfare of
the pupils of the School.
- to
promote understanding between the Management, Teachers and Parents.
- to
support the Management and teachers in any situation where they
require help in dealing with bodies outside the school.
- to
encourage parent participation in school activities.
- to
help keep parents informed of school policies, plans and activities.
- to
pursue such other matters as the Executive Committee may decide
Membership
Membership of the Association shall be open to all Parent and Guardians
of pupils attending Manor House School.
Business
-
The business and affairs of the Association shall be under the
Management of the Executive Committee.
- The
Annual General Meeting shall be held early in each school year.
- The
Executive Committee may call a special General Meeting at its
discretion or if ten per cent of the members so request.
- The
Management and teaching staff shall be invited to participate
in general meetings.
Executive
Committee
The
Executive Committee shall consist of
- Ten
parents elected at the Annual General Meeting
- The
Principal and Deputy Principal
- Two
teachers elected by staff if they so wish
- Not
more than three others co-opted by the Committee
The
Executive Committee shall elect a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson,
Secretary and Assistant Secretary or PRO
Outgoing
members of the Executive Committee shall not be ineligible for re-election
to the Executive Committee.
A
member may not hold the same officership in the Committee for more
than two consecutive years.
Should
a vacancy occur during the year, the Executive Committee may co-opt
another member to fill the vacancy.
The
Executive Committee shall meet once per month during the school
year.
Sub-Committee
may be set up at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
Alterations
to the Constitution
Alterations
to the Constitution may be proposed at the Annual General Meeting
provided at least three weeks notice has been given in writing to
the Secretary. No alterations shall be deemed carried unless with
the approval of at least two thirds of those present voting.
Resolutions
Resolutions
may be submitted for discussion and vote at the Annual General Meeting
provided that one week's notice has been given in writing prior
to that meeting. No resolution shall be accepted by the Association
unless approved by simple majority.
Notes
It
is not the purpose of the Home School Association to criticise individual
teachers or to concern itself with the professional competence of
individual teachers. All decisions relating to the educational and
general welfare of the pupils will rest with the Management of the
School.
It
would be desirable that the Association affiliate with regional
and /or national bodies or Parent Association.
