Carlingford

Carlingford Adventure Centre

On September 20th most of the year went to Carlingford Adventure Centre in Louth.
On the 20th of September we met at school at 8.45 a.m.
When everyone was ready we all split into two separate groups and got onto different buses.
When we arrived at Carlingford we had a talk from a man who works there. During the talk we were told what groups we would be in for all of our activities with, then we were able to choose our rooms.
I was in a room with nine of my friends.

After we were given our rooms we left for activities.
For the first half of the day we went to the high ropes course. In the high ropes course we were able to walk on a tight rope, climb a big pole with 3 other people and all stand together at the top. We were also able to climb up big pieces of wood with 3 other people.
Later that day we went back to the centre for something to eat.
After dinner each group went for a night walk.

The next day my group did the challenge course which involved all going through a maze together in the dark, moving objects so they were in order of size and getting every member of the group through a ‘spiders web’ without hitting off the rope.
Also this day we had raft building and canoeing.
We came back to the centre for dinner and then we went out for another long night walk. During some of this night time walk we were all blindfolded and had to walk in single file and hold onto a rope. The walk went all through the forest and we all had to communicate with each other to tell them if a branch or a step was coming up.
When the part where we were blindfolded was over we went for another really long walk. We came back to the centre and went to bed.
The following day, my group had water sports. In the morning we went kayaking for two hours. In the water we played games such as chasing and got out of the water after an hour to do some warm up exercises. When we had done our warm up exercises we got back into our kayaks and stayed in the water for another hour. After that we were able to do some pier jumping. When we finished in the water, we got out and got changed.
Then we went back to the centre for dinner.
We then left Carlingford to return home after dinner.
