Mural in DART station: Spring term 2019

In early 2019, a number of 5th Year Manor House students were approached by Iarnróid Éireann to design a mural to highlight mental health issues, to be displayed at Kilbarrack train station. Led by Aoife Bullock, these 5th years proceeded to hold a competition for 1st year students, in order to find a suitable design. Mya O'Hara's depiction was the winning choice and over several weeks her design for the mural became a reality, as both sets of students set to work on it. The mural itself was officially unveiled at Kilbarrack train station on 1 April 2019. Ms Doherty (Year Head for 1st years) and Mr Montgomery (Year Head for 5th years) would like to congratulate all the students who were involved in this project, as well as Ms Buckley (Art Department) and Mr Cox (Caretaker) for their help!

Art Project: Creating a Mural in Another School

Thanks to Ms Costello for organising an Art project for 5th years, which gave them another opportunity to express their creativity.

"Some 5th year students have been working on an Art mural project for a special needs pre-school. The group worked to a brief given by the teachers of the school, to design a mural to help the sudents with their learning. On 31 January, the group met with the teachers in St Colmcille, Donaghmende, to present their ideas and to get feedback on the mural design. The design included characters from well-known children's stories and songs. It included many shapes and objects for the children to identify and count."
